Origin Of MBA!!, Why to choose MBA?? and
          Types of courses in MBA

Origin of MBA:

MBA, an acronym for Master of Business Administration, as implied by its name is a master’s degree in business administration that happens to be valued and adopted by all across the globe. The United States can be accredited for its origin in the nineteenth century, in the current date, various MBA courses are opted by the graduates to attain precision and expertise in the fields such as finance, accounting, operations management, marketing, human resources, strategy, organizational behavior, project management etc…
The Tuck school of business in the States, working under the Dartmouth College became first institute to offer an advanced degree in sector of commercial sciences, however the Graduate School of Business Administration at Harvard was the first business school to provide a provide a modern MBA to a batch of 80 students. While in the year 1953, IISWBM (the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management) became the first Indian institute to start up MBA program in the country, including the IIMs and XLRI amongst other older institutes. The top most MBA institutes all around the world are, London Business School, Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School at University of Pennsylvania, Stanford Graduate School of Business, MIT Sloan, Columbia Business School, IE Business School in Spain, IIM Ahmedabad and many other. While the finest MBA institutes in India are, apart from IIM Ahmedabad include IBS Hyderabad, IIM Bangalore, FMS at Delhi University, IIM Kolkata, XLRI Jamshedpur, IMT Ghaziabad, IIFT New Delhi etc…

Why to choose MBA??

The simplest answer to the question saying, why to choose MBA is supported by the fact that it adds you on with an access to a huge business network, it is regarded as the most coveted post-graduate degrees, in today’s business world. Moreover, it is now being counted as one of the obvious features of the executive professionals. Experts believe that the MBA degree, is now accountedas a recognized brand that elaborates management and leadership training. It brushes one’s skills in finance, communication, marketing, economics, and management.

Types of courses in MBA:

According to the modern day need of the world this study of business science, has evolved and developed into many forms, types and with many specifications. There can be MBAs of various types like
·        FULL TIME MBA (2-YEAR COURSE):
It usually lasts for two academic years, that is covers a period of approximately 18 months. Students acquire a detailed knowledge of the corporate techniques, trends and methodologies. At many of the renown Universities highly successful business personalities and professionals deliver lectures to the student, endowing the students with their real time knowledge and work experience. Real-life case analysis and studies are a key feature of the MBA course structure.

·        ACCELERATED MBA:
This program is an intensified form of the actual MBA, involves higher course stress and hence severe examinations. Another difference in the pattern is that the students of accelerated MBA do not enjoy a regular 3-4 month holiday like the regular students, rather they only enjoy a summer or winter semester break of 2-3 weeks.

·        PART-TIME MBA:
This course is developed keeping in mind the schedule of the working people, hence normally holds classes in the weekday evenings or in the non-working hours of the professionals, it might also comprise of a weekend program. This course lasts an year longer than the regular MBA program (for a period of 3 years).

·        EXECUTIVE MBA (E-MBA):
This program is an optimum assort for the professionals who seem to have acquired a really longer work experience, might be around 10 or more years. Usually, the candidates head from various government or non-government firms. The candidates can earn an MBA degree in a period much less than 2 years working regularly meanwhile.
Other forms of MBA include Distance learning Program (very similar to any other distance learning programs), Dual Degree MBA (MBA combined with another degree) and Mini MBA.

The admissions in various international business schools takes place through GRE (Graduate Record Examinations), or GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test) testing procedures (they mostly test a candidates aptitude, mathematical skills and problem solving capability ), the students need to score beyond the decided cut-off marks. Some institutes also take interest in the student’s extra-curricular background for the admission, while some institutes do not observe the GMAT score of the student as a significant parameter for admission. While in the Indian Business School the admission takes place through CAT (Common Aptitude Test) or MAT (Management Aptitude Test), with a specific cut off score.

INTRODUCTION TO GRE (GRADUATE RECORD EXAMINATIONS)

“INTRODUCTION TO GRE (GRADUATE RECORD EXAMINATIONS)”

‘GRE or Graduate Record Examinations’ is a test conducted by the ‘Education Testing Service (ETS)’ in all of the major English languaged countries basically designed for the admissions in business programs. GRE being a computer based system (online test), also recognized by the ‘Triple Nine Society’ is recounted as one of the analytical means for the admission in many of the finest business schools in the United States.
GRE basically evaluates a person’s potential by testing his following skills (which are irrespective to any of his area of previous studies)
·         Verbal Reasoning
·         Analytical Writing
·         Quantitative Reasoning
·         Critical Thinking

As per the new pattern of GRE introduced in 2011, the students appearing for the examination will be marked as per their performance in six different sections with the following contents-
·         Analytical writing section, containing 2 essays. The one of the two essays are likely to be on ‘issue task’ (the examinee is to write an essay on a topic that is to be chosen from a given set of topics), the other one being on ‘argument task’ (the examinee expected to complete an essay that critiques an argument, not introducing any personal ideas, they should suggest logics to support the argument, it being chosen from a list of arguments).

·         2 Verbal sections, containing 20 questions. It solely contains questions of sentence completion (6), sentence equivalence (4), and critical reading comprehension (10).

·         2 Sections of Quantitative reasoning, having 20 questions each which are as follows; 3 data interpretation questions, 9 questions to test problem solving ability of the candidates and 8 questions designed on quantitative comparison.

·         1 Experimental section that is not to be scored, and can be similarised to any of the above mentioned sections.

The entire testing process requires about 3hrs and 45minutes, with the perfect score being 170, and 130 being the lowest. Many of the Universities and institutes count GRE and GMAT in their admission and allotment criterion. Scores as old as 5 years are counted at many of the institutes. Amongst many of the institutes offering admission through the GRE score are Harvard Business School, NYU-Stern, UVA-Darden, MIT-Sloan, Stanford GBS, Columbia Business School, Ohio State-Fisher etc..
Preparation material for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is provided by the ETS on getting registered, which basically contains guiding software called ‘PowerPrep’ containing two practice tests of older questions, newer review material and practice questions. However it is claimed that the pattern of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) has been difficult to track and follow.

The upcoming job prospects in Engineering

“The upcoming job prospects in Engineering”

Engineering being is one of those subjects which people will always need, as evergreen job opportunities. Statistics depicting the expected growth rate in engineering suggests that in the coming years, 2008-18 the total employment offered to the engineers by the industry is expected to rise by 11%. This is sure to happen, since there is a never diminishing need of better and improved technology, means and methods. Continued growth and globalization always deepen the job opportunities in engineering sector.
The opportunities in the arenas of research, development and consultancy are expected to generate the highest degree of employment. Neglecting a few of the sectors the advancing technology is believed to be dampening engineering works in all the industries, which will surely lead to the recruitment of a work force comprising of highly trained and efficient engineers. Besides, the other possibilities that are likely to add onto the job opportunities is because of the increasing literacy rate and public awareness, also leading to the improvement in the living standards, further resulting to better human developing index. Not just the payment but also the other job parameters and working conditions will shape in the favor of the workers, reason being the increasing competition.
The other vacancies are likely to be generated because of the retirements, transference of people to management sector, sales or other professions of individuals. Apart from just the job aspects, you can also hope to witness a rise in the income packages and smarter working conditions for the individuals because of the competition and the enhancing market conditions (in the favor of employees). This will be seen more clearly in the developing countries with a higher range of population like Japan, China, India, Australia, etc...
Talking about the individual branches or interests of engineers, be it the classical, established six streams namely mechanical, civil, electrical, computer science or information technology or the other upcoming branches like biotechnology, instrumentation, aerospace or energy engineering all are expected to receive an upgrade. One fact is certain that even after having been introduced lately these upcoming sectors in engineering are sure to bring about excellent future aspects. Another common misbelieve is that, in the basic streams the market tastes job saturation, but the opinions of the experts are contradictory to the above.
The reason behind the growing job opportunities lies behind the fact that the growing outsourcing and increasing dependency on newer technologies will force the job makers and the companies to increase their dependency on the engineers to realize and optimize their goals. They will compulsorily have to update and stabilize their means and methods of working in order to promote themselves.
Another reason supporting the growing job aspects is the widening of the dimensions of the human capital, also referred to as the framework of human resource development. It basically involves the combined effort of employees and the companies to improve their efficiency and competency. The current these days is to organize a separate HRD department in the firms which integrates the efforts of the individuals and the policies of the company to yield perfect harmony. This in itself requires smart and effective individuals. It in itself is portraying unprecedented job prospects.
In totality, a conclusion can be drawn that engineers will be enjoying quality and quantity employment aspects.
